Welcome Panthers! My name is Mr. Morgan. It is a privilege to be your teacher this year! I am teaching students in Academic English 1 Fundamentals, EL Support for Newcomers and Academic English 2.
Following high school, I attended one year at Brigham Young University. After that, I left school and lived in Colombia, South America for two years where I learned to speak, read and write Spanish fluently. After living in South America, I returned to BYU where I graduated in 1991 with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. I later earned my teaching credential in 1996 at CSU Dominguez Hills and a Masters in Multicultural Education in 1998.
This is my 30th year as an educator. I started teaching in 1993. During my first 13 years, I served as a teacher and as an English Language Coordinator in South Los Angeles. Later, I worked as an English Language Development Coach where I worked with hundreds of teachers in Central and East Los Angeles. In 2006, I came to PUHSD to work as a classroom teacher. I later had the opportunity to become an EL Lead, Assistant Principal and Principal at Pinacate MS. In 2016, I happily returned to the classroom to be a teacher again. Of all my positions as an educator, my favorite is being a full-time classroom teacher. For me, it is by far, the most rewarding!
I enjoy sports, and still play basketball and soccer every week. I also enjoy hiking, going to the beach, and working on my home. Most of all, I love worshipping with others and spending time with my family. I am the proud father of 5 wonderful children and 4 brilliant grandchildren! I have been married to my supportive and beautiful wife for more than 30 years.
I use Google Classroom as the learning management system for all of my classes.
