I grew up in Riverside, California, and relocated to Washington State during my early twenties. In 2005, I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Sociology. Shortly after graduation, I began working in the fitness industry as a personal trainer where I gained experience designing and implementing individualized programs while continuing to work on my education. On top of raising four children of my own, I was able to complete my Masters in Education with an emphasis on Special Education in 2013. I continued on, earning graduate certificates in both Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism. My early years of teaching were spent in Seattle, Washington, where I worked with at-risk youth, focusing on mental health support and behavior interventions. I moved back to Riverside, California in 2016. I have attended numerous professional development courses, including AVID, to improve and grow in my field of expertise.
I have enjoyed working with high school students and supporting them with their successes both socially and academically. I am committed to their progress and growth in all academics and social skills. I am excited to continue my career as a full-time teacher at Perris High School as the SEAS (social, emotional, academic support) teacher.
